Detonate Records

BIOGRAPHY: by Paul of Hope

I started writing songs for the band in year 2000, by the time 2003 came around I had found enough people to get this thing going. We recorded a 4 song demo and passed them out for free to everyone at every show in the northeastern United States. We started playing out as much as we could and landed a few big shows with Hatebreed, With Honor, Verse and The First Step early on in our career.

In 2004 we did our first tour for 2 weeks up and down the East Coast with Guns Up! Things slowed down for a little bit after that while we were in the studio recording First and Foremost. In November 2004, We did a 4 day weekend tour with Have Heart, Outbreak and The Distance where we officially retired our Demo CD and I gave the remaining copies to Outbreak to pass out along their way.
In 2005 we only did a small summer tour because our debut CD was still not released yet. That tour also happened to claim the life of our 1st van, but the show went on in a rental truck.

In July 2006 our debut full length "First and Foremost" was finally released on Detonate Records although it was previously announced that it was going to be on Stillborn Records. There were major delays and setbacks from the recording studio and I can't even begin to describe the experience and why it took so long from the original studio time which was booked for September of 2004. When the recording was finally finished, mastered and ready for release, Stillborn records was on a break period while Jamey was busy touring with Hatebreed and Jay was busy touring with the Distance and there would be no way to get the disc out for the summer tour we had planned. I was running out of options so I started Detonate Records and released "First and Foremost" with only days to spare. Now that we finally had some tunes out, we immediately set fourth on a 33 day US tour to support the new release. following the tour we played as much as we could in the Northeast and started to work on some new material during the winter.

In 2007 we extended our summer tour route and did a 5 week tour across the united states and back while debuting some of our new material with the crowds. We continued to play as much as we could in the fall and winter and decided to finish writing a couple of more songs and record a new demo to shop around to some labels.

In May 2008 we were finished with the new demo but decided it would be best to not shop it around and just get it out for the summer tours. We left for our 1st European tour at the end of May 2008 with our new E.P. titled "Choices Made" being fresh out of the studio. Knowing it could not be pressed in time for the Euro tour, I made 2 different CDR versions both with hand numbered covers each limited to 100. The artwork for the pressed E.P. was made the morning we left for the European Tour and shipped off to the pressing plant to come out once again on my label, Detonate Records. In case anyone was wondering why there is no thank you list, recording notes, or band members listed in the insert, that is why. I simply did not have time to write them up or I would have missed my flight. The other reason for band members not being listed is because it is extremly hard to keep 5 guys dedicated to touring in a hardcore band. I'm sure you all know already that hardcore does not pay the bills, never has and never will. Our 1st European tour was a success! We did 24 days thanks to Marc and Real Deal Tour booking. We arrived back home in Late June and had a week to completely change the band lineup between tours. New members were ready to go as well as our new E.P. "Choices Made" and we headed out for 6 more weeks of touring in the United States!

In Late 2008 We did our 1st Central American tour and played shows in Costa Rica, Hondouras, El Salvador and Guatemala.

We completed a 72 day tour for summer 2009 which covered a good part of Europe and most of the United States with a couple of shows in Mexico.

Working on some new material now!

See you soon!
-Paul
